Meditation

MEDITATE def. think deeply about something, contemplate, consider, ponder

There is something potent about uninterrupted, single minded, committed thought.

Do you step out of the traffic to chew it over like a cow (further) chews cud?

When the door flings open on your cable car…

cable car

In the late 1970s I rode the cable car/skyway at the Sydney Royal Easter Show with my family.

This ride was like no other that I experienced as, shortly after we left one side, the door flung open and remained open until we reached the other side! For those who rode it, you will remember it was a long trip especially with the constant pauses to let everyone off.

So leading into 2019 and reflecting on what was modeled in that cable car, here are three thoughts that I know will add value to your 2019

1. High emotion = low intelligence.

It doesn’t mean you’re a dope. It means that the more we get worked up the more likely we sabotage our intellectual faculties. Problem solving and decision making flourishes with cool heads. This is my fond recollection of my father that day and other scenarios like when I was riding a horse that lost it bridle at full gallop. This leads me to the next one…

2. Who you ride with matters.

The power of association determines what condition you end up at the other side.

My father was sitting opposite me and my Mum was to my right. The door was on mine and my father’s side. He simply put his foot up on my seat and his leg formed a bar across the doorway. He told me to stay seated and enjoy the view. Inner circle audits are crucial and year end reviews are another perfect time for this.

Who is riding in the car with you?

3. Celebrate all wins.

Some take great pleasure that you looked likely to fall.
Some only want to know you when it seems you are “on top”.
Others laugh AND cry with you.

Growth Consciousness

Growth consciousness focuses on the journey rather than just the immediate goal.

A great coach assists us to navigate our belief systems.

Experiences and perceptions right from early childhood are “filed away” in many “boxes on shelves” of our subconscious mind.

These include influences of our parents, education and culture.
Some files are limiting and some are empowering.
These beliefs drive our behaviour.

Until you make the unconscious conscious it will direct your life and you will call it fate

Overwhelm

Overwhelmed?

Feeling buried under everything that is seemingly piling up?

That sense of drowning in concerns or commitments?

Overwhelm has the potential to put you on your backside or on the sideline.

It also signals opportunity to reflect and reset .

The answer to overwhelm isn’t doing more, it’s prioritizing.

– Tim Ferriss

At a recent mastermind group I facilitated we discussed a strategy of intentionally setting priorities based on values then managing those priorities daily.

The priorities break down the pile into smaller manageable chunks of what matters to you (based on your values).

I recommend taking time out for selfcare when the feeling hits before moving into the following:

🔑 Externalise. Get your thoughts on paper.

🔑 Elicit your values if you haven’t already or revisit your written list of values. A good coach can serve you well in this area.

🔑 Evaluate if the use of your resources such as time, money, skill and energy are moving you closer to where you want to go (goal getting) and is all about what you treasure most (values)

🔑 What can you eliminate, delegate, automate or outsource ?

🔑 Prioritise your calendar, to do list, to not do list and budget. Manage daily to build consistency and momentum

🔑 Meet with your mentor.

Clear the path!

Joe Gardner

You likely have heard the cliches “life is a journey” and “life is a marathon not a sprint“

Life’s “road” has it’s potholes and debris.

My mandate is to clear the path for long distance runners.

May your path be long and clear!

Here’s 3 considerations and keys for our journey:

1️⃣ Does your path lead to where you want to go?

🔑 In this fast life, slow down to intentionally evaluate your steps. Are they taking you closer to your desired destination?

2️⃣ Get clear on what you value, who you are, where you are, where you desire to be and who is running wth you.

🔑 Questions -> clarity -> success

3️⃣ Wouldn’t it be great if we could get the “heads up” on the upcoming potholes to avoid injury and go further with peace and prosperity ?
